•••Diabetes Dash: Philanthropizza•••

Last month I had written about the upcoming Diabetes Dash that Justen and I will be participating in. Shortly after we completed the registration process, Justen came home one day and surprised me with these new shoes. Aren't they pretty? He figured brand new shoes with pink all over them would entice me to start training. I was so excited...new shoes, and pink! I quickly put my fancy new running shoes and pranced around the house. Justen quickly seized the opportunity and took advantage of my new shoe high and suggested we take them on their inaugural run. He said "run", but my mind heard "prance down the street and show everyone your fancy new pink running shoes". I quickly agreed. I was still excited once we reached our next door neighbors driveway, and was having fun picturing all the new pink running gear I could get to match my new shoes. Once I had mentally completed my new outfit for purchase I began to feel a little winded. I looked up thinking we must be almost done with our run. Hmmm...just the stop sign at the end of our street. Oh well, I am still wearing my new pink running shoes right? Two miles later I look over at Justen and I look down at my new shoes and realize that these are not fun new pink running shoes...these are devices that are in coercion with Justen to torture me! We finished our run and I realized that the I am really out of shape and the Dash this year might be a little bit harder...even with the help of pink running shoes.

I will say though that since our inaugural run (and with Justen's help) I have trained a little bit more. Still not excited about the running part, but I am excited about the Dash.

We were just informed that the kick off event is next week and I am so excited! This year the organizers of the Dash partnered with California Pizza Kitchen to create a fun event called Philanthropizza. On February 23rd, if you eat at any Atlanta area CPK 20% of your entire bill will be donated to the Diabetes Dash. Yum! Who can resist pizza? And who can resist pizza when you know it is for a good cause? The official kick off party with be at the Atlantic Station CPK from from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., but the event lasts all day. If you guys would like to participate just print the flyer below to turn in to your server and you will have done your part.

Okay, off to train some more...or at least off to day dream about what kind of topping I want on my pizza. ;)
